Updated on Jul 12, 2012 01:46 pm IST
Senior leader of the CPI (M), Brinda Karat assailed the UPA government for dragging its feet in enacting the proposed Food Security Bill while millions of tonnes of food grains rot in godowns and silos. While addressing a mass rally of CPI (M) workers in Visakhapatnam she said that the government preferred to export surplus grain and let it rot, rather than providing it to reach those who can't afford to buy adequate meals for themselves.
