Curfew imposed in Meerut after violent clashes

Curfew was imposed in Meerut city of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday following violent clashes between two groups. The clashes were sparked after opposition by shopkeepers to a group of people blocking traffic on a busy intersection in the city. The argument soon snowballed into a clash. At least 24 policemen were injured in the violence. The police said they were on a lookout for the culprits.
