Defence minister advocates N-deal

Defence Minister AK Antony on Sunday pitched for the India-US nuclear deal, saying it was vital for the country's growing energy needs. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh who is traveling to Japan on Monday for the G-8 Extended Summit is likely to firm up with President George W Bush to operationalise the deal. Meanwhile, Communist parties reiterated their opposition saying that the deal would make India a pawn of Washington.
