It is located at the crossroads of South and Central Asia is melting pot of languages and ethnic groups. It contains many of region's mountain passes – including the famous "Khyber Pass" – used by traders and invaders over centuries. But now it loses its name - the Northwest Frontier Province. Pakistan's senate recently passed the 18th Amendment Bill that changed its name to `Khyber-Pakhtunkhawa', which loosely translated means the land of the Pashtuns. The move, however, is opposed by non-Pashtos, comprising 25 per cent of the province's population.
