Deployment of army tanks in Sikkim not against China

India's junior Foreign Minister Shashi Tharoor on Tuesday said that mobilisation of troops and deployment of tanks in Sikkim along the international border is not to be presumed as a sign of mounting tension with China. Last month India said it would deploy thousands of additional troops and build airstrips along its remote northeastern border with China. This was in a sign of persisting wariness between the two countries despite growing business ties.
