Devolution of power will ease tensions in Kashmir: Dilip Padgaonkar
Updated on Jul 22, 2012 02:25 pm IST
Head of the team of interlocutors appointed by the central government to assess the problems endured in Kashmir, Dilip Padgaonkar has said that the delimitation of constituencies and devolution of power in the regions of Ladakh and Jammu will help ease the political difficulties in the restive state. Further he noted that the interlocutors had suggested that the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) be reviewed periodically in the state, to assess whether it could be withdrawn from those regions where the security threat due to militancy had reduced and no longer necessitated special powers to security forces.
