Devotees take holy dip at Maha Kumbh on ‘Mahashivratri’

Thousands of devotees and ascetics took a holy dip on the last day of the 55-day-long Kumbh Mela, in Allahabad, on the occasion of Mahashivratri on Sunday (March 10). Thousands of pilgrims plunged into the river Ganges to mark the last holy dip of the Kumbh Mela. Mahashivaratri Snan marks the end of the Maha Kumbh. The Kumbh Mela police and administration are on high alert foreseeing heavy influx of devotees in the occasion. The security has been stepped up with over 5,000 policemen deployed at strategic locations. Apart from the regular devotees and ascetics who are a common feature at every edition of the Kumbh Mela, large number of people from western countries also visited the Kumbh Mela
