Disciplinary action against racial comments: Fennell
Updated on Oct 09, 2010 09:52 pm IST
Expressing his anger at the racial comments made by South African swimmer Roland Schoeman during the freestyle swimming event, President of Commonwealth Games Federation Mike Fennell today made it clear that racial slurs made by athletes would not be tolerated and would be properly dealt with. Further, he mentioned that so far, the results of dope tests conducted on the athletes have been negative. It may be recalled after a couple Indian weightlifters testing positive, the Indian Weightlifting Federation (IWF) was asked to pay a heavy penalty to the international body governing this sport and the Sports Ministry of Indian government bailed out the IWF.
