Doctors concerned over high infant mortality

Despite the fall in the infant mortality rate in India over the last few years, doctors are still concerned over the double-digit rate and say proper mother-child care would be a great help. Two and a half million babies die in India on an average before their fifth birthday. Of these, 1.25 million die within the first 28 days of birth. Doctors associated with National Neonatology Forum recently assembled to create awareness regarding care of newborns.
