Economy expected to grow at 8.5 percent: PM

While releasing the document on the performance of the Congress-led coalition of United Progressive Alliance to mark completion of the first year of its second term in office at New Delhi on Tuesday, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said that the country's economy is expected to grow at 8.5 per cent in the current financial year that started on April 1, after growing 7.4 per cent in 2009/10. Singh said it was one of the best performances in the world and reflects the strong fundamentals.
