Kicking off his bid for Olympic gold, Wimbledon champion Roger Federer survived a scare with a gruelling 6-3, 5-7, 6-3 victory over Colombia's 51 seed, Alejandro Falla. Falla had Federer on his toes at the end of the second set and the start of the third before the Swiss world number one finally found his game to scrape through in one hour and 47 minutes on Centre Court.
