Fix Foreign Suppliers responsibility, asks Left

CPI (M) general secretary Prakash Karat, has called for inclusion of liability of foreign suppliers in case of a nuclear accident, in the proposed Civil Nuclear Liability Bill. Addressing a news conference on Thursday in New Delhi, Karat stressed that a nuclear accident could take place not just due to Indian operational errors, but also due to manufacturing defects, or faulty designs of a foreign reactor. He also demanded that the cap should be raised to at least Rs. 10,000 crore while the proposed cap is Rs.1500 crore.
