Frantic rescue ops at Kolkata hospital

At least forty patients were trapped inside a private hospital at Dhakuria where a fire broke out early this morning, police and fire brigade sources said.The fire which was suspected to have originated in the electrical department in the basement of the AMRI hospital, swiftly spread to the first and second floors, trapping patients, with the fire brigade called in at 4:00 am. At least 20 patients were feared to have suffocated to death after a devastating fire swept through a seven storied annexe building of a private hospital at Dhakuria here today.Some bodies were found in departments that firemen were able to access, he said.
