French FM Lagarde meets PM Singh to garner support for IMF bid

French Finance Minister Christine Lagarde met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in New Delhi on Tuesday to solicit support for her bid to become chairperson of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). She will also meet Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee to garner support for the top job at the IMF. Lagarde, who is the front-runner for the job as she has the support from developed countries, has promised to support demands from emerging countries to have more say in the functioning of the IMF.
