Goa beaches turn black after Mumbai oil spill
Updated on Sept 02, 2010 07:57 pm IST
The recent oil spill off western Mumbai coast has begun to blacken the beaches of tourist hotspot Goa as well. Tar balls have started to accumulate on the golden beaches, casting shadow on the tourist arrivals. Tourism authorities however claim that efforts are on to clean the beaches and there was nothing to panic. The tar balls appear on the beaches during the high tide, though washed away during low tides. The authorities expect the clean up to be complete in the next few weeks.
