Government has ignored eastern Himalayan region: Ramesh
Updated on Jun 12, 2010 10:52 pm IST
Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh on Friday said that the eastern Himalayan region has been ignored on the state-formulated ecological policies. Pointing out central government's apparent 'bias' towards the western Himalayan belt, Ramesh reflected that the eastern Himalayan region had been left out on all fronts pertaining to development and climatic change assessments. Meanwhile, Ramesh added that India's northeast, because of its rich biodiversity, was selected for the opening session of seven consultations, which would be held across the country.
