Government to consult all political parties on civil nuclear bill

Indian government on Friday said it would consult all political parties before tabling the Civil Liability for Nuclear Damage Bill in Parliament, following strong objections from the opposition parties. The Bill pertains to compensation in case of any accident involving civil nuclear plants. The Indo-US nuclear deal that was concluded in September 2008 has not been operationalised so far pending enactment of liability law, which is one of three key requirements.
