Govt announces development programmes for STs, SCs, OBCs

Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh in New Delhi on Friday announced new development programmes for the people of lower castes and other backward classes. While speaking in a conference for ministers of welfare and social justice from different states of the country, the PM said, to prevent atrocities on lower caste people, he has asked all the chief ministers of states to implement the Protection of Civil Rights Act, 1955, and the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Act, 1989.
