House arrest of Geelani results in protests

Hundreds of activists of hardliner Hurriyat Conference staged a mass protest demonstration at Srinagar on Friday. They were demanding release of their chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani who is presently under house arrest. The protest began from Lal Chowk and proceeded towards the United Nation Organisation's office in a bid to raise their voice against the human rights violations vis-à-vis their leader. The protestors raised pro-freedom slogans and also held placards showing their support to the hard line leader.
