I don't hold patent on 'saffron' remarks: Chidambaram

Updated on Sept 02, 2010 07:59 pm IST

Home Minister P Chidambaram in New Delhi on Wednesday vehemently defended his remarks on right-winged fundamentalism by terming it as saffron terrorism. Seemingly unfazed by the flames of furore ignited by his controversial 'saffron extremism' rants, Chidambaram maintained that the 'message' he had wished to convey to the citizens had been served through the 'phrase.' Chidambaram also made it clear it was not his patent and in the past UPA and Congress leaders have found it quite expedient to refer to "saffronisation of education" to target the previous NDA government.
