India grounds 6 Boeing 787 Dreamliners

Updated on Jan 17, 2013 12:15 pm IST

Following in the footsteps of Japan and the United States of America, India has grounded all six of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircrafts operated by state-owned carrier Air India, for an indefinite period. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) was due to take a decision on the matter after Boeing submitted its report by the end of January 16 after a series of incidents heightened safety concerns over the plane. The regulator had formed a team to work with Boeing to judge the safety of the aircraft.
