India needs nuclear energy for development: Sonia

As the 45-nation Nuclear Suppliers Group mulled over lifting the ban on trade with India, Sonia Gandhi, stressed the need for nuclear energy. Sonia Gandhi said that the country needed nuclear energy to meet the demands of its billion plus population. The ruling Congress government has been facing flak from other political parties for moving ahead with the deal, fearing it compromised the country's sovereignty.
