India remembers Nehru on death anniv

He might have died forty-four years ago, but India still commemorates the death of its first prime minister… a man many credit with ensuring democracy prevailed. Senior politicians attended a service for Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru in New Delhi on Tuesday, including the Vice President Hamid Ansari and his granddaughter in law Sonia Gandhi. Nehru is credited for helping stabilize India as it shed its feudal and colonial past.
