India simmers over fuel price hike

India's main opposition is continuing with its protests over the fuel price hike. Petrol and diesel prices were hiked by about 10 per cent on Wednesday, its biggest increase in 12 years. Although the government justified its action as a result of record high crude prices, the step has incited much discontent among the people, who were already burdened under rising inflation.
