India to become power surplus nation: Shinde

Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde on Sunday said that India would be a power surplus nation with the addition of 65,000 MW (Mega Watt) of power during the 12th Five Year Plan period. Speaking at the sidelines of the foundation stone unveiling ceremony of 52 MW Gas Turbine power plants in Agartala, Shinde also added that India's power supply was rapidly increasing, a trend never observed before. He is optimistic that the power sector from here on would only grow.
