An estimated 12,000 Indian ground staff went on an indefinite strike on Tuesday night, demanding wage arrears and a review of their promotion. The strike was not a sudden decision taken on their part. The members of the Airport Corporation Employees Union (ACEU) in fact wanted to go on strike on May 17 but they delayed the decision hoping for an amicable solution.
