Indian rights groups call for end to offensive against Maoists
Updated on Mar 06, 2010 08:42 pm IST
Indian civil right activists on Friday criticized government plan to launch an offensive against Maoist rebels. Led by Booker Prize winning author and activist Arundhati Roy, the activists advocated that the Maoist resistance is similar in ideology as social movements but differs in execution. Roy's comments came after India planned last month a massive operation against Maoist rebels in its eastern and central states.
