Updated on Mar 04, 2009 07:59 pm IST
The Government of Jammu and Kashmir planned to start winter activities in Pahalgam, a summer destination, to promote tourism during the winter season. Pahalgam, a scenic valley nestled high in the mountains, is one of J&K's most popular tourist spots and is one of the main staging points for a one-and-a-half month long major Hindu pilgrimage during summers. The people living at Pahalgam are totally dependent on tourists coming in hordes during summer months.
