Jairam announces global auction of seized red sanders

Jairam Ramesh, Minister for Environment and Forests, who was on a visit to Tirupati, on Thursday announced that 6,000 tonnes of seized Red Sanders wood would be auctioned through global tender.Referring to the urgency in curbing smuggling of the much-wanted wood in the region,Ramesh said that he had a meeting with Konijeti Rosaiah,the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh,who had demanded the disposal of the seized Red Sanders,and had suggested global auctioning.
