Union Minister of State for Environment Jairam Ramesh had admitted that dumping Union Carbide's toxic waste near Indore was a mistake. Ramesh on Saturday visited Pithampur village in Madhya Pradesh and sought an apology from the people. He admitted that in 2008 the lethal waste was secretly smuggled out during the night hours from the Carbide factory and shifted it to a TSD (treatment, storage and disposal) incinerator facility in Pithampur, Dhar district.
