Activists of Akhil Bharatiya Jat Aarakshana Samiti organized a massive rally in New Delhi demanding OBC status for reservation in government jobs and threatened to disrupt commonwealth games if their demands are not heeded to. Evidently, more than 4,000 members of the Jat community attempted to storm the Commonwealth Games Organizing Committee office on Wednesday afternoon but were prevented by the police. Earlier, on June 14, the Jats had stopped the water supply to New Delhi from the Ganges canal in the Uttar Pradesh as a mark of protest against the government not heeding to their demand for reservation and thus have been often taking public property to ransom.
