JD (U) steps up pressure on BJP to name its PM candidate

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday remained unfazed as its ally Janata Dal-United (JD-U) threatened to walkout of the alliance over prime ministerial nominee for upcoming national elections. The JD (U), which heads a coalition government with BJP in Bihar, is averse to Narendra Modi, senior BJP leader and Guajrat chief minister, being projected as the prime ministerial candidate due to the 2002 communal riots.
