Kashmir unrest affects Amarnath pilgrimage
Updated on Aug 06, 2010 08:27 pm IST
The continuous protests and shutdown in Kashmir valley has left Amarnath pilgrims in tough times. Pilgrims in good numbers have been stuck in the area and are facing problems of food, water and transport. The state's road transport corporation is shut down, as nobody is ready to head towards Kashmir. The stranded devotees are expecting help from the government, as there are no facilities available to them. The Kashmir valley has seen a recent surge of violence that has led authorities to impose an on-and-off curfew in parts of the region.
