Kumbh: Mauni Amavasya bathing today

Allahabad/ Varanasi/ Haridwar, Feb 10 (ANI): Millions of pilgrims today took a holy dip into the sacred Ganges River at Sangam at Allahabad to wash off their sins on the occasion of 'Mauni Amavasya', considered to be the most auspicious day of the Kumbh Mela. The auspicious period set in at 2 pm yesterday will continue till 2 pm today. Scores of people also gathered in Varanasi to take a holy dip on the special occasion. Apart from, Allahabad and Varanasi the Mauni Amavasya was also observed by devotees in Haridwar. According to Hindu mythology, people are expected to take a vow of silence or maun today.
