Barely a week after Tata's small car project was shelved in India's Communist-ruled eastern Singur, the provincial government of Uttar Pradesh on Sunday cancelled allotment of 189.25 hectare of land for a new state-run railway coach factory in Rae Bareli district. Authorities cited resentment among displaced farmers as the reason behind the cancellation of the land deal.
