Landslides block Himalayan road
Updated on Jul 01, 2008 08:41 pm IST
This early arrival of monsoon in the north eastern regions of India has cut off Sikkim's only road link with the rest of the country. Monsoon rains triggered heavy landslides at Kalimpong after heavy rains caused a major landslide at Kalijhora on the NH-31A. Hundreds of vehicles were stranded on the national highway. The blockade has caused monetary loss to the state's economy on a day-to-day basis.
