Lawyers go on hunger strike

Lawyers in Chennai went on a hunger strike demanding strict action against police officials responsible for baton charging them four days back. Holding placards and posters the lawyers held a sit-in in front of the Madras High Court. The premises of Chennai turned into a battleground on Thursday after lawyers set fire to a police station in Chennai and 20 policemen were injured in clashes after the arrest of legal counsel sympathetic to Sri Lankan rebels.
