Lokpal debate in Parliament

The much-awaited debate on Lokpal Bill began in Parliament today. Minister of State in Prime Minister's Office V. Narayansamy initiated the debate. He said the government elicited the views of Team Anna and later brought a bill on August 4, 2011. He added that since Anna Hazare took a hunger-strike after that, so the government passed a Sense of the House resolution in the Monsoon session of the Parliament encompassing the three sticking points put forward by the anti-graft crusader. Subsequently, after long deliberations a new Lokpal bill was introduced in the current session withdrawing the older one.
