Manali-Leh highway blocked, relief work hampered

After being ravaged by flash floods, Leh is now struggling to remain connected with rest of India. The strategically important Manali-Leh highway has been blocked at several places due to landslides. This has further hampered the relief work. Vehicles carrying fuel and other essential goods have been left stranded at various places. The situation has also disappointed tourists. The Border Roads Organization has started to make a temporary bridge so that heavy vehicles can move towards Leh.
