Maoists' threat looms large in Lalgarh

Maoists' threat gripped rebel-infested Lalgarh area in West Midnapore district of West Bengal state on Thursday as extremists observed martyrs day in the honour of its cadres killed in police firing. To make their presence felt and strike fear in the villagers mind, the Maoists' build 'Saheed Vedi' to honour their dead and paste inflammatory banners. The region was out of bounds for the West Bengal administration for eight months before security forces reclaimed it on 30, June 2009.
