Updated on May 15, 2013 04:44 pm IST

Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, convicted in a case related to the Mumbai serial blasts in 1993, on Wednesday withdrew his petition to surrender at Yerwada jail. Dutt had filed a petition at the TADA court on Tuesday asking to let him surrender directly at the Yerwada jail in Pune, instead of special TADA court in Mumbai, to which the court was to take its decision today. Dutt stated an apprehension of danger to his life "from vested interests and other fundamentalist groups and organizations". He also said that a large presence of media and fans at the TADA court can risk his security and it could also creates chaos and cause inconvenience to the police and the court. Dutt will now surrender on May 16, after his extended deadline gets over.
