After the assassination of ex premier Benazir Bhutto, in a televised address, Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf called on the nation to keep calm. PPP supporters rallied on the streets and burned election posters of the PML-Q. Earlier in the day, former Pakistan prime minister Nawaz Sharif also came under attack, but managed a narrow escape. A three-day mourning has been declared in Pakistan after Bhutto's assassination.
