It is now widely believed that Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf has decided to step down rather than face impeachment, Western media reported on Friday. The ruling coalition, said last week it planned to impeach him. Spokesman for the president has repeatedly denied that he was about to quit, and he did so again on Friday. The crisis surrounding Musharraf's future has heightened concern in the US and among other allies about the stability of Pakistan.
