Peepal or the fig tree is considered holy by Hindus. It is believed to house the Trimurty or the three forms or trinity, the roots being Brahma the creator, the trunk Vishnu the preserver and the leaves Shiva the destroyer. In a small hamlet located in Mishinagar in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, joining Hindus in their daily prayers under the sacred Peepal tree are Muslims from the village.
