'Nilgiri Queen', the toy train which runs between Mettupalayam and Ooty in Tamil Nadu attracts not only Indian but also international tourists. However, the toy train incurs a loss of 45 million rupees every year. The Nilgiri Mountain Heritage Steam Engine Chariot Trust had urged the Railway Ministry to not to stop the train service from Mettupalayam to Ooty. The trust has suggested a hike in the fare of tickets in this sector to cover up the losses.
