No apology for article on PM: Washington Post

Updated on Sept 05, 2012 09:38 pm IST

Leading US daily, Washington Post has said that it is not remorseful for publishing an article that dubbed the Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as a silent tragic figure. The Washington Post report read that 'the shy, soft-spoken 79-year-old is in danger of going down in history as a failure'. Speaking to media, India Bureau Chief of Washington Post, Simon Denyer said that he stands by the article. Defending his piece, Denyer said that the article balances Singh's achievements and categorically explains reasons for his downfall. Denyer also said that the article is not a benchmark for foreign investors to gauge the strengths and weaknesses of the Indian economy.
