Having witnessed a surge in violence in the state, Omar Abdullah, chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir in New Delhi on Monday noted that for any political initiative to be taken to battle the volatile situation in the Kashmir valley, restoration of normalcy is must. Earlier, Omar held a high level meeting, which was attended by Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and other senior cabinet ministers, in national capital, to apprise the central government of the grim-situation prevailing in the valley. Further Omar highlighted that the issue of Jammu and Kashmir demands grave political handling rather than just economic compensations of various natures.
