Onion price hike due to 'speculative hoarding': Anand Sharma

Expressing his concern at the sharp increase in prices of onion across the nation, Commerce minister Anand Sharma on Tuesday asserted that the government is doing its best to rectify the anomaly. Briefing reporters after attending a meeting of the Empowered Group of Ministers (EGoM) in national capital New Delhi, Sharma attributed the steep hike in onion rates to 'speculative hoarding.'
