Part 3: PM addresses nation

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today addressed the nation and explained the recent decisions on economic reforms. Singh said that no government wants to burden the common man and that it is the government's responsibility to work in national interest. He also added that the aim of introducing FDI in retail was to create employment for the youth and restore the confidence of foreign investors. On hiking the prices of diesel, he said that diesel subsidy would have crippled the nation. He appealed for support from the people of the country.
