Pillai rules out deployment of Army to counter Maoists

India's Home Secretary GK Pillai, during his three-day visit to Chhattisgarh in Monday said the government has decided not to deploy the army for the counter insurgency operations in the state. Pillai has been interacting with the local administration, top brass of the police and other paramilitary forces deployed in this Maoist infested state over the issue. He also held series of discussions to review the prevailing security measures and also evaluate the ground realities.
